Interswitch has returned N25,600 withheld since May to Ikpeama Emmanuel, a 200-level student at Michael Okpara University.
This refund came on Tuesday, a week after FIJ published a report detailing how the fintech company held on to the 200-level student’s N25,600 meant for the payment of his school-fee balance after a failed transaction on Quickteller, a product of Interswitch.
“This is to inform you that Quickteller just called to apologise. They have also refunded my money. Thank you for your assistance. They are asking me to appeal to you to make a post in that regard,” Ikpeama wrote to FIJ via text on Tuesday evening.

FIJ’s report detailed how the transaction Ikpeama had while trying to pay the money via Quickteller failed.
When he contacted Interswitch, they promised to reverse the funds within 24-72 hours, but nothing came.
Ikpeama had to take a loan to pay his school fees because he would not be allowed to sit for his exams if he failed to pay the balance.
Interswitch’s delay in making a refund left him frustrated.
He called them several times on different occasions and shared over 55 emails with them, but there was no refund until after FIJ’s story.
