Abraham’s Post
Before we commence debate on human rights abuse or human rights violation, the question we should be asking, is; what does it take to accord respect to sacred institutions in the land?
The truth is that it takes absolute nothing, because it is not only the right thing to do but the wise thing to do before, God, man and posterity.
When some persons feel they are too knowledgeable and have grown so much might to question an ancestral throne which has spanned for centuries, it becomes not only a cause for concern, but a reason to worry on their behalf, because by so doing such persons attract not only the wrath of the gods but that of mankind.
Don Pedro however bargained for just another regular Sunday on the pitch, but little did he know consequences of his utterances, laid seige ahead. While his brilliance or whatever he has achieved for himself is not in any dispute, that doesn’t automatically amount to an immunity clause for him to run bersek making unguarded utterances against the Palace.
While it is good to know he has been released unhurt, this is a clarion call for everyone to go back to the drawing board and do what’s right. First, respect must be accorded to whom, where and to institutions it is due because Obedience they say is better than sacrifice.
….Abraham writes from behind one of the goal posts at Uwa Primary School, Benin-City.
A lot of persons in Nigeria will almost kill if you abuse their parents.

Did you watch the part where he said he met with some chiefs to plead on his behalf? Why would he be pleading if he had not committed sacrilege? We, the Edo speaking people, saw what he did, even if you did not, because you do not understand the level of reverence with which we hold our God-King on earth.

We are Edos, and we understand our own history and people. Pedro is a loyal son, and we are all aware of what transpired after his brother began supporting him financially. He had little choice but to go along with certain actions. Anyone who understands the Edo language would have heard him admit that he contacted some chiefs to plead on his behalf for what he did to the Edo speaking people and the Oba whom we regard as our ‘God on earth.’ Unfortunately, some people approach these issues with bias and are only interested in highlighting negative narratives about the Edo people, rather than seeking the full truth. But they will fail.

This barbaric assault on Dr. Pedro is most despicable & shameful. Yet we’re quick & loud to condemn Islamic extremists while we perpetrate “traditional bigotry” & extremism. This is jungle justice. And it’s unacceptable & holds no place in a civilized & constitutional society.
If he said anything insultive, opprobrious or denigratory to the Bini Throne, he should be taken to the court of law.
This arrant display of gangsterism, hooliganism & cultic parade of lawlessness endangers our tenuous & fragile democracy. And will certainly boomerang into dare devil disrespect to the Palace.
To the perpetrators, wait for it! You’ll all pay dearly for your beastiality. Your misguided acts of violence & brutal corporal assault will not pass quietly.
All law abiding citizens of Bini, Edo State & Nigeria worldwide will not allow this evil go unpunished. The Law Must Rule!

What a shame! Shame! Shame!
If we do not stand our ground and condemn this uncivilized way of handling offenses, Nigeria will soon become a zoo.
What right do non‑state actors have to parade a man—who is not a criminal—in such a barbaric manner in this day and age, simply because he allegedly “disrespected” the Oba?
It is a disgrace! This is how extremism begins, and once it starts, everyone becomes a victim. When people are oppressed beyond measure, they will defend themselves; they may take up arms or retreat into the bush.
Those of us from the North understand these realities.
Let us condemn uncivilized actions. Two wrongs do not make a right.

They call the actions of Edo people barbaric, but I keep asking myself a simple question:
Can a citizen of America insult the national flag without consequences?
Can a citizen of the UK openly insult the Royal Family without consequences?
Can people in countries like China, North Korea, or even South Korea freely insult their president or national traditions without consequences?
Can someone living in an Islamic state insult Allah without consequences?
The answer is obvious—every society has values, symbols, and institutions it protects.
Today, Edo sons reacted to an insult against their Royal Father, and suddenly it is labeled barbaric. Yet when our traditions are gradually eroded, nobody calls it barbaric. When respect for elders declines, it is not called barbaric. When foreign values are imposed on our children without regard for our culture, it is not called barbaric. But when a child stands up to defend the honor of his father and heritage, it is immediately condemned.
If defending our identity, culture, and tradition makes us barbarians in the eyes of others, then so be it.
We accept the name.
Edo tradition must be protected.

When you act like a criminal, you will be treated as such.
In Bini, it is an abomination to see you insult your parents. The on lookers do not seek any formal or informal permission to act to remove the madness from the perpetrator.
The same goes to anyone that verbally insults the throne of the Oba of Bini. No one needs formal or informal permission to cure the madness of the perpetrator.
This is part of the inherent value of the great Bini people.
Don’t ever allow madness get you to the point of insulting your parents or the throne of the Oba of Bini.

Pre-Atlantic Slave Trade Slavery:
Internal Slavery:
Before European arrival, Igbos enslaved other Igbos for various reasons, including punishment for crimes, debt payment, and as prisoners of war.
Limited Restrictions:
Unlike the chattel slavery of the Americas, Igbo slaves were often allowed to move freely within their communities and even own property.
Religious Practices:
Slaves could be sacrificed in religious ceremonies or buried with their masters, reflecting the belief that they would continue to serve them in the afterlife.
Impact of the Atlantic Slave Trade:
Increased Demand:
The transatlantic trade created a huge demand for slaves, leading to more frequent raids and kidnappings, particularly from distant villages.
Family Dynamics:
Some families even sold off disgraced relatives or those considered undesirable, sometimes likening it to the British sending convicts to Australia.
Economic and Social Changes:
The slave trade brought wealth and power to some, particularly those involved in the trade, while causing significant social disruption within Igbo society.
Igbo Involvement:
Igbo individuals and communities played roles both as victims and as participants in the trade, with some becoming wealthy and powerful as slave owners and traders.
Osu Caste System:
Spiritual Status:
The Osu caste system, which still exists today, is a form of hereditary slavery tied to religious beliefs and practices.
Discrimination:
Osu are considered “untouchables” and face social and economic discrimination, despite the official abolition of slavery.
Post-Abolition:
Colonial Era:
Even after the British outlawed the slave trade, slavery persisted, with colonial authorities often overlooking or even benefiting from the practice.
Emancipation Struggles:
Igbo people have been engaged in struggles for emancipation and equality, seeking to dismantle the remaining structures of slavery and discrimination.
Legacy of Slavery:
The legacy of slavery continues to shape Igbo society, with ongoing efforts to address the social and economic inequalities resulting from this historical practice.

A sultan was removed in Nigeria heaven did not fall.
The day wey Edo go get mad governor who will remove an Oba that messes up na dat day una go know government power pass traditional institutions.

Respect is earned not demanded. U don’t force it out of people as if they don’t have a freewill.
Secondly, traditional rulers aren’t more Nigerians than their so called subjects. We are equal under the Constitution of this country. Go and check the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria if there is anywhere dedicated to them that gives them the right to do what they do. They should be respected when they earn it. U can’t force respect out of people.
Under the law, the roles of traditional rulers don’t exist. Therefore, they shouldn’t treat people like rags.

You write up is like you were paid to INEC Chairman work for the Oba and those thugs.
The man was stripped naked, and paraded in public, for something which is not an offence under the Nigerian Law.
Why did Oba not sue him or call the police to arrest him, but have thugs parade him naked on streets of Edo State!
Your brain is becoming obsolete and less operational

Your views are untethered from reality, proving that a little knowledge can indeed be a dangerous thing. What, precisely, is the charge against Don Pedro? The reality is that the palace is being undermined by those with substance issues (junkies). Unless they are countered immediately, they threaten to dismantle the integrity of the entire traditional institution.

Rather than physically assaulting someone to this extent, if the man in question has offended the palace in any way, the best thing to do is for the palace to issue him an invitation and come explain why he should not be punished for his utterance, if by the end and his reasons are not acceptable to the palace, then punishment or fine can be issued accordingly… In this modern age, no one should be disgraced to this extent if the only sin was saying words according to the extremist is not acceptable to the throne. We should all co exist as people under same culture and respect for the rule of law… Don Pedro deserve an apology for assault melted on him.

He has explain how he was humiliated , assaulted publicly, why can’t he explain the Genesis or what lead to this action from some Edo youth? He can not explain the beginning because he knows what he did, his has been threatening the life of the Oba , insulting, defamatory statements about the Oba which he also knows the Oba doesn’t have time to talk about it, so the faithful and respectful Edo traditional youth took his words of Pedro obaseki to be questioned, what they did to Pedro obaseki yesterday was to ask him questions which he never gave answers till now, so when people who do not understand are asking foolish and stupid and commenting nonsense I just allow them be

Has the father of the people and I believe they were apologize but for people to just go and beat him up like this is against the Nigeria constitution
And I believe the OBA will not like it instead
This is why the former late presidents buhari call Nigeria lazy youth very lazy youth
When we are supposed to be coming out as a youth from 60 years to 18 years come together and think how to move the country forward and make our old grandparents retire
