Chieke Donald, an actor, has accused film maker Tolu Agienoji of refusing to pay his N10,000 wage.
Donald said he was featured as an extra on the set of Days in Liberty, a movie shot by Agienoji in Lagos, but more than one month later, he has yet to get his due.
The actor made several attempts to reach out, but they ended in futility. Very recently, Agienoji blocked him on WhatsApp after saying, “Do I owe you? Did I collect money from you? Go to the police.”
Recounting how he encountered the man, Donald told FIJ he had been working as an actor for several years and was invited to a set at the Yaba Magistrate Court in Lagos on June 16.
While waiting there, he spotted another production crew filming in the same location.

“Agienoji met me and asked that I join them for a single-take quick shot, as they needed just one more person,” Donald told FIJ. “Before shooting, I asked how much he was willing to pay, and he said N10,000. I agreed.
“I joined in the scene, but when I asked for my money after filming, he said I should give my account details to the production accountant. So, I did. The accountant refused to provide me with her number, but I got Agienoji’s own. He was the production manager. He told me to relax until production started paying casts.”
Donald said he returned to his original set after that encounter and waited three weeks without hearing any word. On July 15, he sent a message to Agienoji demanding his payment, but the filmmaker responded by saying he should go to the police.
When Donald asked if that was his response, Agienoji said, “Yes, you are threatening me, so do what you have to do.”
Afterwards, he blocked him.
On July 16, FIJ texted the filmmaker, but he did not respond. FIJ called him again on Wednesday, but he hung up the call.
