Guaranty Trust Bank (GT Bank) has refunded Blessing Eziaghiagala, a Lagos-based woman, the sum of N100,000 after withholding it for over three weeks.
This new development came five hours after FIJ’s publication on how the bank pussyfooted over the reversal of the customer’s funds and six days after FIJ’s email to the bank.
A happy Eziaghiagala told FIJ on Tuesday morning that she was pleased to receive her long-withheld funds, which came in at 7 pm on Monday.

“I am so grateful, FIJ,” she said. “Last night, GT Bank reversed my money. Thank you for everything, FIJ. God bless you.”
On Monday, FIJ reported that Eziaghiagala transferred N100,000 from her GT Bank account to an abandoned OPay account of hers on June 21 but asked OPay to resend the funds to her GT Bank account, which they did on July 5.
However, despite a reversal of her funds, the bank told her she had no such amount in her account. She said she wrote several emails and visits to the bank, but the situation remained unchanged until FIJ intervened.
The withheld N100,000 was literally all Eziaghiagala had, as her account balance without the sum read N32.38.
