“Thank you FIJ Nigeria. Your voice has been finally heard. Globacom has finally restored my line, now active. I really appreciate your concerns. Thanks in a million.”
Those were the words of Joseph Ajayi, a businessman living in Akure, days after FIJ published a report detailing how his Glo line suddenly became inactive in June.
Ajayi told FIJ that he lost lots of customers because the Glo phone number, which he had been using for the past two years, was his business line.

He also did not receive any notification prior to the incident. He only found out when he attempted to make calls that month and was slammed with an automated response: “Your mobile line has been blocked”.
When the businessman contacted Globacom multiple times between June and July, the telecommunication operator told him that his line was undergoing some routine and periodic checks.

Although FIJ received a similar response when Globacom was contacted on July 29 via email and X, the network provider noted that the complaint had been escalated appropriately.
FIJ subsequently published a report on the issue on July 30 after sending a follow-up message for clarity on the nature of the routine check and when Ajayi’s line would be restored.
When Ajayi called the company on August 7, a customer care representative confirmed that his line had been activated. “The SIM card wasn’t with me then, but I checked to affirm it on August 9,” he told FIJ.
