The health condition of Isaac Bristol, whom the police believe to be leak journalist and whistleblower ‘PIDOMNigeria’, has begun to deteriorate, FIJ has learnt.

Sources who spoke with Bristol on Tuesday told FIJ they observed he favoured an index finger as he was nursing an injury on it.

FIJ also gathered that the Nigeria Police Force National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC) picked Bristol out of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) cell on Tuesday evening.

These sources say Bristol told them his health had begun to suffer and his prolonged stay in detention was harming him.

“His finger was bruised from the torture he experienced while in a cell in Rivers,” this source told FIJ. “Now, his general health is down. The finger is not healing and we cannot determine what illness he is battling now.”

The police abducted Isaac on August 5 and kept him in a holding cell without food or human contact for six days before flying him to Abuja.

They branded him a kidnapper but later accused him of cybercriminal activities, terrorism financing, a treasonable felony and other crimes.

The NCCC granted Bristol bail, but they demanded he provide a Level 16 civil servant and a businessman who have properties worth at least N500 million in Abuja, to regain his freedom.

Isaac’s inability to meet these stringent conditions has meant a prolonged stay in detention for him.
