The bail hearing for Isaac Bristol has been scheduled for Wednesday at the Federal High Court in Abuja, FIJ has learnt.

Deji Adeyanju, Bristol’s lawyer, filed a written bail application after Justice Nwite committed Bristol to the correctional facility in Kuje, Abuja on Tuesday. He told FIJ he filed the application and received Wednesday’s date for hearing.

During the Tuesday arraignment, Adeyanju attempted to make an oral bail application, but Nwite rejected it and asked that he send a written one.

The police arraigned Bristol on nine charges bordering on terrorism, money laundering, cybercrime, violation of the Official Secrets Act, and evidence tampering.

These acts, they claimed, he perpetrated using the @PIDOMNigeria alias on X. Bristol has denied any affiliation with the X handle, and maintains his innocence of the charges.

The police abducted Bristol from a hotel room in Rivers State on August 5, and kept him in chains, unfed and away from the public eye for at least six days before flying him to Abuja where they detained him at the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) until his Tuesday arraignment.

While in custody, the police offered him near-impossible bail conditions and continued to hold him and deny members of the public access to him.
