Damilare Olanrewaju, a 21-year-old man, was sentenced to five years imprisonment on Tuesday for sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Lagos State.
The Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) announced Olanrewaju’s sentence on Wednesday. It came two years after he fondled a 15-year-old girl’s breasts in public.
In addition to sentencing him to a five-year jail term on Tuesday, Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court ordered his name to be registered in the Sexual Offenders Register.

“Olanrewaju was also convicted for sexually assaulting the girl by caressing her buttocks with his hands and had pleaded guilty to the amended two-count charge of indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault,” stated the DSVA.
The convict committed the offence on December 22, 2022, on Abutu Street, Elijah Bus Stop, Badagry Expressway. By committing this offence, he violated Section 134 and Section 263 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Olanrewaju was found guilty of the two counts of indecent act and sexual assault, and the judge sentenced him to two years imprisonment on count one and three years on count two.
According to the DSVA, the judge also ordered Olanrewaju to undergo counselling through the agency in line with his plea bargain agreement.
