Several accounts on TikTok, a social media platform for creating short videos, have claimed that Donald Trump, the president of the United States of America, has ordered the deportation of all children of Nigerian politicians and the sales of their properties in the country.
This is on the heels of Trump’s executive order on illegal migrants in the US following his second inauguration. About 3,690 Nigerians have already been marked for deportation under this order.
According to Streetavangelist001, one of the TikTok accounts which shared the claim on Sunday, Trump ordered the sale of properties of all wealthy Nigerians stuck abroad and the deportation of their children.
He said their properties have been put up for auction and that their children are now mandated to school in their home country.
“Donald Trump has ordered for the sale of properties of all wealthy Nigerians that are stuck abroad, and he has asked for the deportation of their children to Nigeria,” the user said in his video.

“Every rich child whose father embezzled Nigeria’s money, that they are stealing from Nigeria…every expensive property, private jet, everything that the rich Nigerian has stocked in America has been set to be auctioned. Their children are coming back home to study.”
FIJ found that another account, t22thy_bulldog, had shared the claim on Thursday that Trump had ordered the sale of all luxury properties owned by Nigerian politicians and the deportation of their children.
“Trump orders the sale of all private jets and luxury properties owned by Nigerian politicians in the United States. He also called for the deportation of their children studying in America,” the video stated.
“Your children must attend schools in your own country and contribute to its growth,” Trump was quoted as saying.

These TikTok posts have since generated a lot of likes, comments and reactions from Nigerians on the platform. Together, they garnered over 3,300 likes and more than 580 comments.
In the reactions, while some Nigerians doubted the authenticity of the claim, more people rejoiced at the announcement.

CLAIM
President Trump ordered the deportation of Nigerian politicians’ children and the auction of all properties belonging to their parents.
VERIFICATION
To verify this claim, FIJ checked the document released by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). This document stated that 3,690 Nigerians are on the list for deportation.
It said nothing about their connection to their home country or the political status of their parents back home in Nigeria.
FIJ also checked the White House’s website, which provides up-to-date information about the activities of the president but found nothing related to the TikTok claims.
None of the media publications on Trump’s executive orders has anything on him ordering the deportation of Nigerian politician’s children either.
CONCLUSION
President Trump has not issued an order for the deportation of the children of Nigerian politicians in the US or the sale of their luxury properties.
VERDICT
The claim of the deportation of Nigerian politicians’ children and the sale of their properties is false and misleading.
