Midis Energy Services Ltd, an oil and gas company, got Pacific Quaker Ltd to finance some construction equipment to the tune of N22,751,300 in 2024. A year later, the energy company is yet to pay for the equipment.

Atiri Temabor, Pacific Quaker’s co-owner, told FIJ that his company specialises in construction, supply of building construction equipment and fabrication.

Temabor said he got to know Midis through a friend, who connected him with Atamuno Ajubo, Midis Energy’s Director.

“I have a friend, a former colleague who knows I’m into this. He said he had someone inside (Midis) who could help me through the procurement. That was how he introduced me to the project engineer who, in turn, introduced me to management, before I met the director directly,” Temabor said.

“Since then, the conversations of the deal had been between Ajubo and myself.”

Midis won a contract from Seplat, a well-known energy company, and then they gave Local Purchase Orders to Pacific Quaker to finance some equipment in their (Midis) site. The POs were in batches. The equipment Pacific Quaker financed was cranes, excavators, concrete mixers and pumping machines, among others, Temabor explained.

Purchasing Orders are documents that a buyer uses to request goods or services from a seller, which carry the specifics of the purchase, and then become legally binding once the supplier accepts them.

The date carried by the PO FIJ obtained shows that the first deal occurred in April 2024. By July, Pacific Quaker had completely fulfilled its end of the bargain.

Temabor explained that the agreement was for Midis to make the payment after 30 days, but because he wanted to be considerate since their buyer was also dealing with Seplat, he added an additional 15 days. Ever since then, whenever he reaches out to Ajubo to request payment, he puts the blame on Seplat.

“As I informed you before, we had a new project manager on the project. Since March, when he came on board, we’ve been having reconciliation on the project. This is already being resolved by Seplat Management. Once we have our WCC and payment received you will get your payment,” Ajubo had once said.

When FIJ called Ajubo on Saturday, he requested a second phone call two hours later, but when FIJ called again, he did not pick up. At press time, he had yet to respond to the text sent to him on Saturday.
