Aishat Arinola (pseudonym), a civil servant living in Katsina State, has narrated to FIJ how Nigerian commercial airline Aero Contractors cancelled her flight and failed to refund her N69,000 10 months later.
Speaking with FIJ on Saturday, Arinola said that the airline cancelled her flight from Kano to Lagos in May due to operational reasons.
She said that since then she has filled out several refund request forms online but the airline has continued to hold on to her refund.

“In May 2024, my flight on May 5 from Kano to Lagos was cancelled by Aero Contractors due to technical reasons,” Arinola told FIJ.
“I have filled out several online refund request forms, but they have yet to refund my money. It is almost a year, and I don’t want to lose my money. My flight PNR is 15FBAF.”

FIJ sent an email of enquiry to the airline on Monday. In its response on Tuesday, the airline said the refund was still being processed without specifying when to expect it.
“This is just to let you know that your refund is still being processed. You will be contacted as soon as the internal process is complete,” Rufina, the customer care representative who responded to the email, wrote.
In March, FIJ reported how the airline held onto N81,760 after Chukwuneku Opiti, a Lagos resident, booked her flight from Sokoto to Lagos twice.
Aero Contractors advised Opiti to follow a bank dispute process, but FIJ found she had already completed several complaint procedures without success.
