Abiola Oluboboye, an assistant pastor, remains missing 10 weeks after armed men abducted him from the Celestial Church of Christ, Jehovah Shalom Parish, in the Mowe area of Ogun State on March 28.
EQToday earlier reported how the abductors took Oluboboye and Oluwaseyifunmi Oladapo, the shepherd in charge, in the middle of the Maundy Thursday service.
The Ogun State Police Command claimed it rescued Oladapo from the kidnappers some days later, but EQToday found that the clergyman escaped from his captors instead.

“We still haven’t found Abiola till now. It is very worrisome, and his family is not happy about what has happened,” Oladapo told EQToday on Sunday.
“The police officers reached out from time to time, and they eventually got some of the culprits. There were five kidnappers in all, and the police have killed two of them. I positively identified those two as the ones who took us in March.
“It was only some days after I regained my freedom that two of the kidnappers were apprehended and killed.”
The police told Oladapo that the criminal duo had organised another abduction when security agents gunned them down in April.
Their bodies were moved from the crime scene in Shagamu, and the police in Ogun asked Oladapo if he recognised them.

“The police called to let me know that they had killed two people who had tried to kidnap Indians around Shagamu two months ago (April). They wanted me to check if they were among the kidnappers who took me and my assistant in March,” Oladapo narrated on Sunday.
“I saw the pictures, and they were among the five who kidnapped us that Thursday evening. In fact, one of them was the leader of the pack. Through his phone, the police found the third member of the kidnapping gang. He’s a man with a bad leg; I recognised him right away.
“The police saw that this suspect contacted the kidnappers from his phone call log on March 27; we were kidnapped on March 28. He has also confessed to helping them abduct victims.
“Abiola’s family members have, however, expressed their frustration. They have directed a lot of it at me. His family even hinted that I might be involved in the kidnapping.
“It’s a sad situation. Two months on, and it is affecting everybody close to him. I pray we get reunited with Abiola very soon.”
EQToday could not reach Omolola Odutola, the Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, via phone calls on Sunday, and she has yet to respond to a text message sent to her.
Oladapo told EQToday that the police have charged the suspect they have in custody in court. The police told him that the suspect would be arraigned in court on August 9, 2024.
