The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have refused to comment on Benjamin Nnanyereugo, a confessed murderer better known as Killaboi, 12 months after the NPF began his extradition.

In August 2023, Killaboi fled after he confessed to stabbing Augusta Osedion, his 21-year-old girlfriend. Osedion had died of her stab wounds the previous month.

Killaboi said he would turn himself in but he later fled to Sierra Leone. The NPF confirmed in October 2023 that the SLP had arrested Killaboi and Osedion’s brother shared a picture of the suspect in cuffs.

Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, told FIJ Killaboi had been arrested in Sierra Leone.

“We have commenced the extradition process to bring KillaBoi into custody in Nigeria,” Hundeyin told The Punch on October 21, 2023.

Modupe Odele, a Nigerian lawyer, also shared on X that the extradition laws of Sierra Leone allow for Killaboi to be extradited to Nigeria for his prosecution.

Hundeyin has since refused to take FIJ’s calls or respond to messages about Killaboi’s whereabouts and the extradition process.

FIJ called Hundeyin on Monday to know about the current development concerning Killaboi’s extradition, but he did not answer the phone. He had not responded to text messages at press time.

This was the same situation in May when FIJ called the police for updates.

FIJ also sent a WhatsApp text to Brima Kamara, the SLP’s media and public relations head, on Monday. He was yet to respond at press time.
