CODAR Tech Africa, a tech institute, has refunded N100,000 to Khairat Amoo, a data analyst it owed, after failing to deliver a course.
Amoo applied to CODAR Tech in February for a data management course that was supposed to start in March. She was handed a course outline and added to a group with two others who were the company’s staff members.
March came, but the classes did not commence. When she reached out to the project manager, she was ignored.
Amoo also reached out to the CODAR Tech sales representative who had initially advertised the course to her to understand why the class had not begun. She was told that they needed a minimum of five people before they could kickstart the class.
“I remember asking her if the class would still hold if they don’t get up to five applicants. She told me not to worry, that it would hold regardless,” Amoo recalled.
When it looked like there would be no solution in sight, she decided to visit the company at its physical location in Ikeja.

There, she met another sales representative who, instead of helping, only persisted in trying to convince her to opt for another course.
Subsequently, Amoo met other staff members of the company, but they only kept making promises until July.
Amoo told FIJ on Sunday that the programme manager reached out to her on Wednesday to say she saw FIJ’s report.

“On Wednesday the programme manager reached out that they saw a report online about what has transpired between me and their organisation, and they would love for the report to be taken down,” Amoo said.
“I explained that I have no say in that because if they had done the right thing from the start the report would not have been drafted. She apologised [and said] that I would get my money that day or the next.
“About 10 minutes after the call, I was refunded and the receipt was sent to me.”
