Standard Chartered has refunded the sum of N23,048 to Innocent Obaro, the Lagos resident who accused God Is Good Logistics (GIGL) of dragging its heel over the refund of his money, trapped in a failed PoS transaction, for seven months.
This development happened within 48 hours after FIJ’s story, titled ‘Customer’s N23,000 Hangs Between GIG Logistics, Standard Chartered for Over 6 Months’, published on Monday.
Obaro told FIJ on Thursday that Standard Chartered contacted him on Tuesday morning to inform him they had sent his long-withheld money.
“All thanks to FIJ and its team, I got back my N23,040 from God is Good Logistics and Standard Chartered Bank which had been trapped in the failed PoS transaction,” Obaro told FIJ on Wednesday.

Previously, FIJ reported that Obaro paid for a package at the GIG Logistics office at Lekki on February 17 but would later discover that although he was debited, the first transaction was unsuccessful.
Obaro contacted Standard Chartered via X, where they confirmed the deduction and assured him that the issue would be resolved within 24 hours. However, when the problem persisted, he visited the bank’s physical office to lodge a formal complaint.
In June, Obaro said Standard Chartered stated in an email that “we had contacted the acquiring bank with a view to resolving the dispute for the below POS transaction at POS LA NG and they have availed us the journal roll for the transaction (a bank-to-bank document), which has shown from their end that the POS transaction was successful”.
Obaro said that, after he got this message, he reached out to GIG Logistics, hoping that they would refund his money, but they kept saying their account team had not received the funds.
The issue lingered for another two months, but after FIJ’s story, Obaro received the exact amount that was debited from his account on February 17.
