Ifeanyi Utaba, a commercial driver in Onitsha, Anambra State, has received a barrage of unsolicited calls after Muyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), shared (archived here) his phone number in a list of States’ Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs).
Utaba switched off his phone on Friday, 24 hours after the mix-up.
FIJ called the phone number after a security consultant with Beacon Security and Intelligence Ltd disclosed that the driver was getting calls from people mistaking him for Moses Yamu, the Edo State PPRO.

In Adejobi’s post, he included Yamu’s number as 08036363532. This number, FIJ found via Truecaller, belongs to Utaba.

When FIJ checked Yamu’s known number, FIJ found that his 08036363531 phone number only differs from Utaba’s by one digit, the last one.
While Utaba’s ends with ‘2’, Yamu’s ends with ‘1’.
FIJ called Adejobi on Friday to ask about the error, but the policeman did not respond to multiple calls. At press time, he had also not responded to a text message FIJ sent.
