Ethiopian Airlines has refunded Mary Emelieze Udeh, an Abuja resident, whose N1,691,736 the airline had withheld since August 8.
Udeh told FIJ on Tuesday morning that she had received a refund from Ethiopian Airlines.
The airline refunded the Abuja resident three days after FIJ published a report detailing how Udeh had sent Ethiopian Airlines emails requesting a refund. It had failed to heed Udeh’s request despite her emails.
“Good morning, FIJ. Thank you for your help and support. I have received the refund. Thank you to FIJ,” Udeh wrote to FIJ.

Receipt of refund.
FIJ’s published report detailed how, after paying to book a seat for her husband’s niece on the Ethiopian Airlines’ Lagos-Toronto flight, the booking failed.
Her husband visited the Ethiopian Airlines’ office in Transcorp Hilton in Abuja in August, and the airline instructed him to file his complaints via email.

Udeh and her husband obeyed the instructions, but the airline failed to respond until about a week later. The airline’s staff who responded to her email assured her she would get her refund within 21 working days.
She anticipated her refund but received nothing when the stipulated timeline elapsed. Udeh remained hopeful and resorted to sending the airline reminders and a series of emails.
This she did on several occasions and remained hopeful because the money would come in handy for paying her children’s school fees.
It was not until FIJ published a story about Ethiopian Airlines running away from refunding Udeh that the airline provided her with a refund.
