Thomas finally got out of detention on Thursday.

“The courageous Amazon, Olamide Thomas, was finally released from Suleja prison today, shame on the Police for persecuting her,” Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) posted on X.

The police arrested Thomas in Lagos State on December 13, 2024, for cursing Seyi Tinubu, President Bola Tinubu’s son, as well as the IGP himself and Muyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson of the police force.

She would later be moved to Abuja, where she was arraigned before Justice Emeka Nwite at the Federal High Court.

Thomas was remanded at the Suleja Custodial Centre, where she spent Christmas Day, her birthday and the New Year after the bail application filed by her lawyers was denied.

FIJ reported that an Abuja Federal High Court later granted the activist a N10 million bail with one surety on Monday.

When granting the bail application, the court ruled that she had shown no intention to escape.

In a video clip shared on Thursday by Kunle Ajayi, an activist and former Ondo State AAC governorship candidate, Thomas is seen singing.
