Adeleye was the last person to see Idowu alive on August 19 when she stopped by his shop on her way to the University of Lagos, where she worked. She had sought shelter from the rain that day, and he invited her into his family’s house.

There he strangled her to death.

Adeleye propped her body up and sent a picture to Ozobia, pretending she was still alive and demanding a N3 million ransom. What followed was a manhunt for the missing girl.

Soldiers from the 174 Battalion tracked Adeleye down and caught him on September 1. He confessed to killing Idowu a day later.
