The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has clarified that it is still investigating Air Peace over an ongoing flight ticket overpricing scandal.The FCCPC noted that a claim making rounds that the commission was no longer investigating the airline was “syndicated and sponsored.”“The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) categorically refutes a story entitled ‘FG not investigating Air Peace – FCCPC’ making the rounds on some media platforms, particularly online, which has been falsely attributed to the Commission. As stated, Air Peace is one of the entities being engaged to address allegations of exploitative ticket pricing, including significant price hikes for advance bookings on specific domestic routes.”BACKGROUNDThe FCCPC started its investigation after many customers filed many complaints about how Air Peace was unjustly hiking its flight fares.One of the most contentious issues is that Air Peace suggested that a one-hour flight within Nigeria should cost between N500,000 and N700,000.
