Sunday Benson, a pastor and house agent, has refunded N1 million to Adekola Ademboni, a Lagos State resident, from whom he had collected a N1.3 million deposit on November 12, for a 15-year lease of a self-contained apartment.

After leasing the apartment to another tenant, Benson failed to inform Ademboni; however, he discovered the development in June and requested a refund.

This refund did not come for a month, and Samuel George, the property developer, failed to appear for meetings.

FIJ reported the story on Monday after both Benson and George failed to give a concrete date for a refund.

On Wednesday morning, Benson paid N1 million to Ademboni’s business account, Daybonis Professional Services.

After paying, Benson then begged for more time to repay N300,000. He asked that he be allowed to pay no later than August 31.

Conveying the development to FIJ, Ademboni said, “Benson just sent N1 million. He also said that the N300,000 commission he collected will be repaid on August 31 at the latest. I will wait for him. Thank you, sir.”

Ademboni told FIJ he had trusted his pastor with getting him an apartment, but was surprised to learn Benson inflated the cost of commission, and then demanded an identical agreement fee, only to then learn that he leased it to another tenant.
